Cristina Fernandez Cubas
Cristina Fernández Cubas was born in Arenys de Mar, Barcelona, in
1945. Since the publication of her first volume of short stories in
1980 she has become an undeniable reference for the generationsof
short story writers that followed. She is the author of four short
story books: MI HERMANA ELBA, LOS ALTILLOS DEL BRUMAL, EL ÁNGULO DEL
HORROR, and CON AGATHA EN ESTAMBUL; the novels: EL AÑO DE GRACIA and
EL COLUMPIO, a play, HERMANAS DE SANGRE, and a one of a kind memoir,
COSAS QUE YA NO EXISTEN, a book warmly received by both the critics
and the public that is also known for having shaped one of the most
fascinating and unque literary universes of Spanish literature. She
has been translated into eight languages. Her complete stories were
publishedrecently by Tusquets, paying homage to her literary career,
for which she received the Premio Cuidad de Barcelona and the Premio
Salambó for the best book published in Spanish in 2008.
