Deniz Kavukçuoğlu

Deniz Kavukçuoğlu is a multifaceted writer, who as well as his journalistic writings, has also published articles on politics, and short stories. Kavukçuoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1943 and studied Philosophy, History and Economics in Germany. He has lived in Germany for thirty years, twenty two of these were obligatory stays during the periods of martial law. Following his research projects, such as Şiddetten Demokrasiye-Sosyal Demokrasi ve Milliyetçilik / From Violence to Democracy-Social Democracy and Nationalism, and Karl Marx’tan Günümüze Almanya’da Sosyal Demokrasi / The Social Democracy in Germany From Karl Marx to the Present Day, he collected his journalistic works in his book Deniz Bitti / The Sea is Over. Alageyik Sokağı Bir Liman mıydı?/ Was Alageyik Street a Port? and Sen Vatan Haini Misin Baba?/ Are You a Traitor, Dad? constitute Kavukçuoğlu’s memoirs. Recent years have yielded a novel, Zarife, and a book of short stories, Canım Acıyor Baba / I’m Hurt, Dad. Through his work, Deniz Kavukçuoğlu has attracted a wide audience in all genres.
